About the series Melt
Hovey was tremendously influenced by the time she spent walkabout in the isolated landscape of Iceland last August.
Whether the melting of ice or the flows of melted magma the landscape of Iceland is greatly altered by the solids that turn to liquid before they traverse the island.
For this series, Hovey froze liquid paint with water. The image emerges as the natural dispersion of melting ice deposits the paint residue on the silk.
