ensemble
1. a group of items viewed as a whole rather than individually.
2. a diverse group producing a single effect.
3. a population of neuron cells in the brain providing the underlying coding structure for multi-channel neural recordings. i.e. how we form and store memories through connecting new experiences and information with previously stored knowledge. The more connections that are created the greater chance of forming lasting memories.
With ensemble, I am connecting disparate and disjointed elements into a single whole. Each element in ensemble has been purposely created to bring together different memories through symbolic relationships with material, subject matter, the site, brain cancer, Benon Lutaaya’s life and art, and my personal experience coping with and processing injury, illness, loss, undefined continuance, the randomness of luck, and the practice of creating.
